Ludwig has been making people beautiful in Chicago for over 20 years! He came to The Windy City in 1991, landing his first job at the Carrie South Salon on Oak Street downtown. There, he gained a passion and respect for the artistry of hair styling, learning all aspects of the craft. His next job was at Heidi's -- a progressive salon with a Sassoon-based training program -- in the Bloomingdale's building on North Michigan Avenue. Ludwig was an assistant in the color department and did exceedingly well in Heidi's training program.

But he decided that he wanted to both color and cut hair, so he moved to Eclipse in Lincoln Park. The owners encouraged Ludwig's creativity and put him in charge of many photo shoots and hair shows. Under his art direction, the salon competed in and won many citywide hair styling competitions. Following in 1993, Ludwig moved to Salon 1800 in Lincoln Park, where he became an educator in the salon training program and worked for many years. Then in 2008, his own salon, Hair Ludwig, was born.

Ludwig's work has been featured in Today's Chicago Woman, Allure magazine and the Chicago Tribune. He has styled hair for many local fashion shows, music videos and other events. He has also been a wig master (and occasional actor) for a local theater company called Hellina Handbag Productions. One critic gave high praise to his wig designs while reviewing "Scarry The Musical," citing them as a highlight in the production.

Although his career is quite fulfilling, Ludwig feels it's necessary to continue to learn and challenge himself in order to uphold his own standards. He has achieved great success because of his reputation for being an innovative, cutting-edge stylist/colorist with a razor-sharp wit and compassionate heart.
